Variety has always been the buzzword at The Basement, Hotel Samilton. If there was Kolkata’s original live experimental electronic act, Dubsex, churning out dubstep, electronica, progressive and ambient styles of music on one night, on the other, Calcutta Cycle was seen celebrating the life and times of Lalon Fakir.
Talking about Dubsex, DJ Faraz said: “Each member is from a different background.
We’ve all come together to produce a sound so different yet so much in sync.” The occasion being Faraz’s birthday, a huge cake was cut and he had his friends giving him those hugs and pecks.
Calcutta Cycle, on its part, belted out the famous songs by Lalon Fakir that made mockery of those who degraded themselves by resorting to divisive politics. Music lovers were all ears.
